I had a previous version of Norton on the computer and followed the instructions with the product to delete this before installing Norton 360. After installation I had very slow computer operation and long switch-on time. I contacted Symantek by EMail and their response said I needed to download their special routine to delete a previous Norton version. This did not improve matters. Many EMails were exchanged and procedures followed until deleting Norton files in a Temp location eventually enabled the computer to run at normal speed, but still takes 5 minutes to switch on. The problem is with the Norton file ccSvcHst.exe which demanded 96% of CPU time on my computer until the Temp files were deleted. It is obvious that Symantex do not provide proper instructions with the product and the design of Norton 360 makes it very difficult to achieve satisfactory computer operation and much help is needed from Symnatec Customer Services.

In one paragraph...i took the chance and took a day out my life to upgrade with the Vista Basic OEM software and it worked, well. My integrated sound card worked straight away and this was probably due to being connected to the internet whilst loading Vista. I did delete a few programs on my now old XP running PC, but left Broadband and every other vital program intact. I had to reinstall Office 2007 and my printer etc. My video card is older and doesn't work with my new Vista DVD media Movie Maker nor 'some of the non essential DVD features' of my seperate new Roxio burn suite software 2009, really only the DVD player side, but other than that Vista has given my 2006 PC no problems. I had to download a Roxio driver for £9.99 for my Vista based DVD Windows Player to play DVD's. Possibly a Windows Media player 11 update would have done the trick? But I think Vista already came with media player 11. I would have liked to upgrade my 80gb hard drive to about 160gb but for now i'm leaving that. Probably a new PC in a few years time? I recommend at least 120+ gb hard drive, even for those who don't require much HD space. The only www problem is Internet Explorer 7 i found had problems with my PC and modem, and even with Explorer 8 which works 95% fine, there's a few sites that aren't working right or won't even open. Possibly due to my old PC running Vista or a Vista v's Explorer 8 Beta problem? Overall, everything about Vista is more than 98% in favour of being good and the chance i took on my Dell 3100c PC desktop using 2 gb ram and using an Intel 4HT CPU...Vista works and the better the monitor you have the more likely you'll like Vista. Load Vista using the Custom Installation which you'll need to click on and Vista takes about 1 hour to load with a total of 4 re-starts and a host of updates when connected to the internet. After the 3rd restart is when you have to enter the date, time and your registered name and computer name.
This is perfect as it teaches a bit of French but is also very entertaining.
My 3 year old uses level 1 as it lets them choose what to click and then tells them the French for it. My 5 year old is on level 2 and loves the challenge as on this level they are directed (in French) what to click.
Very clearly spoken but the instructions for a couple of the games can be a bit vague.
I bought a MacBook some months back for University/Music production, and got iLife to go with it. Whilst overall, their are a number of genuinely positive outlooks to be had, the bundle is not without it moral flaws.
Getting straight into the good points, their is one universal feature that is striking; all the programs are incredibly easy to use, and not hungry on your performance. GarageBand is a joy to use for playing my MIDI keyboard and recording demo's, whilst iPhoto is a rather near program for collating your albums. iWeb is simply fantastic as it's so easy to plan and design web-site with multiple hyperlinks, photo's, video's, and plenty of other features you normally take for granted, whilst iMovie is also excellent quality, in terms of its features.
However, as suggested before, I do have a number of issues with this package; whether you bought if or even if it came with your Mac.
Though I have positive feelings about each program, their are a number of flaws. iWeb for example is limited to it's user ability unless you fork out just under one hundred pounds a year for a MobileMe account, which will allow you to publish your site with all the features. It will allow you to use a web domain you may have bought from a 3rd party web site, but you are then limited to what you can put on your site, which is rather disappointing. Never the less, it is possible to make a fairly pro looking site without MobileMe activity.
iMovie has some excellent features too, but I feel that the previous edition was better and much easier to use. Somehow, the timeline and use of clips/previous projects is messy and I just plain prefer Adobe Elements these days. Your experience with iMovie may just depend on what programs you've used in the past though; I personally found after time, the results would be worth it.
I think the problem with reviewing iLife is that everyone is going to have their favourite apps, so it's hard to collate a respective review. Even I have rarely used iDVD because I bought this basic MacBook without the SuperDrive. But in terms of value, I think for its current RRP iLife is just about worth it, though you must ensure you're going to get full use out of the programs. One must wonder though that considering if you buy a Mac, iLife is already installed on it, so why should a Mac owner have to pay such a high price to upgrade from their older versions?
So 3 stars for me; the biggest disappointment being with MobileMe compatability. If you put things into perspective, it takes away Apples ethos of "everything out of the box" when you can't get full usability unless you fork out more money. But it has to be said, iLife is a great little suite!

This course has one major problem. Once a series of lessons is started it MUST be fully completed. There is no facility to stop and save which is extremely frustrating. This means repeating the same work over and over again. If you e-mail the company they will send a patch to allow saving. Otherwise the units are well constructed and the games are fun. My son enjoyed the work and the problem can be resolved.
